Psalm 86:5: “You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you.”

People can be hard to please, but this does not apply to God.  We do not need to jump through the hoops to please Him. We do not have to bend over backwards to get into His graces. He already loves us today, and tomorrow He will not love us any less. The Lord is good, and it is His pleasure to be good to us. Calling on the Lord, we unlock a boatload of blessings:

  • The Blessing of forgiveness: At any time, God is ready to forgive and forget. A major hurdle we experience is to forgive ourselves and others, God help us! Blame and shame is a burden too hard to bear. We are not cut out for this sort of thing, which is why we need to quit playing the blame game. Receiving God’s forgiveness will set us all free.
  • The Blessing of God’s goodness: God is good, and He is good to us. He is for us, not against us; He always has our very best interest at heart; and so we should stop obsessing over things we have no control over. Trusting the Lord is a learning experience, but we will see – He always has a way for us.
  • The Blessing of God’s love: The very essence of God is love; He never fails to love us, especially in our darkest hour.

King David wrote in one of his psalms (Psalm 23:6):

“Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

Believing in the Lord’s goodness lightens our daily load. At least this is how I have experienced life as a believer. Goodness and love will follow us wherever we go.
