Proverbs 22:6: “Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.”

Getting to know Jesus is the beginning of a very good story! Personally delivered, your loved ones are the first to read you. Your story will include divine encounters where paths cross. Lives will be touched along the way, and lots of good things happen, whether or not you are aware of it. That’s the power of truth!

God is in the business of truth-telling; however, here’s the kicker: if there was a point in your life when you first realized who Jesus is, then this was revealed to you. In Matthew’s gospel we read about a conversation Jesus had with His followers. Jesus asked them point-blank: “Who am I?” Here is Peter’s answer (Matthew 16:17):

Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.’ Jesus replied, ‘Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.’”

Jesus makes it pretty clear that Simon Peter is no genius who just figured out who the Messiah is. Believers are no geniuses. Believers are receivers, and truth-receiving is a gift from God. Like any precious gift that we receive, we need to cherish it. By respecting the Holy Spirit we guard this precious gift. Conversely, if we ignore the Spirit of God long enough, that gift will be taken from us; left to our own devices life quickly becomes bad news. Anybody who is a parent knows what happens if children are left to their own devices: nothing good comes out of it.

The Holy Spirit is a wonderful teacher constantly speaking truth into our lives. Ever been on a crossroads and listened to that voice inside of you nudging you to do the right thing? That is God’s Spirit parenting us.

Throughout our lives our Father in Heaven is constantly assessing our situation to help us find the truth. In the history of mankind He has touched countless lives, revolutionized human thinking, prevented evil from taking over our planet, and has exponentially grown a movement that started with a famous few. Our Heavenly Father is teaching His children well!

Jesus went through hell to be God-in-the-flesh. He walked this earth teaching and revealing Heaven’s Kingdom to us. Jesus taught His contemporaries well, and His legacy continues on.

Our triune God is an inspiring teacher. Touching our lives, our examples can grow multiple seeds of blessings, which will scatter worldwide. That’s the blessing of exponential teaching – an enormous ripple effect for sure; and that, my friend, is the legacy you can leave behind!

Teach your children well, their father’s hell did slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams;

Teach your parents well, their children’s hell will slowly go by,
And feed them on your dreams.”
